Jessica Colebrooke (nee Maycock) born in Nassau,
The Bahamas, is a Fine Artist and a ceramicist.
Jessica studied at the College Of the Bahamas
(1991- 1994) as well as The Rhode Island School
Of Design, Providence RI, where she received
a Baccalaureate Degree in Fine Arts in 1997.
In 1996 Jessica established the Jessica's
Tileworks Studio (JTS), a company that produces
fine art pottery, souvenirs, art tiles and
ammenities that are indigenous to the Bahamas
and the Caribbean. JTS' main objective is
to produce a line of ceramic ware that can
stand apart, with durability, simplicity and
elegance, mimicing the seagrape bushels near
the local seashores, or that captures the
memory of a vistor who cannot forget that
scuba diving tour where they saw our beautiful
marine life.
Apart from creating a viable ceramic business,
Colebrooke has a list of accomplishments that
has severed her with great experience; these
include her participation in several local
and international exhibitions such as
- Woods Gerry Gallery, Ceramics Biennial Show,
Providence, Rhode Island 1995
the Inaugural National Exhibition at the National
Art Gallery Of the Bahamas 2003,
- NE 2 National Exhibition, The National Art
Gallery Of The Bahamas, Nassau Bahamas 2004
The Women of the World biennial for 2000 which
traveled to New York, Sweden and Germany,
and most recently the
- Freedom Call, A Fine Art
Exhibition commemorating the 200th Anniversary
of the Abolition of the Transatlantic Slave
Trade Freeport, Grand Bahama 2007
Jessica has also taught at the College Of
the Bahamas as well as for the Ministry Of
Education in the Bahamas. She has also served
as Art and Ceramic instructor at the Finco
Summer Art Workshops and the Inter-American
Development Bank 2nd Summer Art Workshop.
